Here we have the Sparrowhawk Class Attack Cruisers Phoenix(red) and Vengeance(Blue/Black), leaving orbit from the Imperial Dominion Homeworld of Relanne. Who knows where their adventures will take these mighty ships as they embark on a mission of exploration and protection. These ships truly are fine representatives of the Imperial Dominion Star Fleet.

Well back to basics for me. I have been working on this model for a bit. Due to a hardware crash last spring, I lost the original models for the Sparrows and Sparrowhawks. This is a complete remodel from scratch. I think they came out much better than the previous version. I hope you like it.

Oh yeh, I also have posted the starfield and planet background in a separate post. It came out so good I though folks might like it as a wallpaper.

it's kind've weird as the angle suggests that the ships are going by the planet, not leaving from it. That can be easily rationalized as them leaving a shipyard in orbit..

Well, normally they do 2 orbits before leaving, to get a navigational fix and test critical systems before breaking orbit. lol :) You asked... LOL

thanks for the details, i don't have a problem with detailed stuff like that being a sf fan :D

why don't they use orbital shipyards and whatnot. oh they test the system in orbit to avoid damage to the planet right (the energies involved can fuck a planet up in many sf unis, see the base delta zero in star wars)

The ships can land easily on any spot on a planet big enough to support them. Anti Gravity control is a great thing. :) They test systems like Life Support etc in orbit to make sure they don't suffocate on the way to their destination. The drive systems don't put out a lot of dangerous emissions normally.
